The Gaslight Anthem es una banda americana de punk rock de la ciudad de New Brunswick en el estado de New Jersey. Ellos lanzaron su primer album «Sink or Swim» en XOXO Records el 29 de Mayo de 2007.

Su debut completo fue bien recibido por sitios independientes de musica indie así como Punknews.org (revisión del álbum «Sink or Swim»), Absolutepunk.net (biografía y revisión) y Racket Magazine (entrevista) y mas sitios populares como Spin.com (Banda del día en agosto del 2007), UltimateGuitar.com (revisión del álbum) y un protagonismo especial en Fuse’sTV Dozen Days of Downloads en enero de 2008.

La música de The Gaslight Anthem contiene muchos elementos del sonido de la bahía de Jersey (Jersey Shore). Es más, la banda posee una aficcion por Bruce Springsteen, una influencia significativa en su música, es un hecho celebrado por fans y críticas. El sonido de

Todavía son una banda relativamente desconocida fuera de los Estados Unidos. El 6 de agosto de 2008 la banda hizo historia en la música británica después de convertirse en la primer banda en alcanzar la portada de «Kerrang!» (la revista británica de rock número uno en ventas semanales) sin siquiera haber escrito algunas palabras antes sobre la banda, los llamaron «La mejor banda que vas a escuchar en el 2008». Sumado a esto la banda recibió un espacio en BBC6 Music.

El segundo álbum de la banda, titulado «The ‘59 Sound» se lanzó el 19 de agosto de 2008.
Hot Water Music’s Chris Wollard y el MIghty Mighty Bosstone’s Dick Barret son invitados en el álbum.

Any Killers comparisons are just from Brian Fallon and Brandon Flowers using Springsteen as their major vocal/lyrical inspiration. Nothing more. And we all know Gaslight are far superior.

I haven't heard the band, but I'm a lunatic Bruce Springsteen fan. And whilst rummaging through many of the video clippings on The Boss, I came across a person who was talking about Bruce and covered the song Backstreets. I'm glad for his inspirations.

Cannot wait for the new album!!!!!!!! About that The Killers comparison, I do agree his vocals do sometimes sound like Brandon's but other than that very different bands. I must add though, I love them both (well the old Killers actually, not very familiar with their new material.. :)) Peace!

Saw these guys playing with Bruce Springsteen on a tv program (Hard Rock Calling 09) and I decided to give an actual listen. I really can sense a Springsteen vibe. Great band!
