The Fall es una banda post-punk, formada en Manchester en 1976. La banda ha existido en cierta forma desde entonces, y es esencialmente conformada alrededor de su fundador y unico miembro constante, Mark E. Smith. Inicialmente asociados con el movimiento punk de finales los 70s, su musica ha pasado por varios cambios estilisticos, pero suele estar caracterizado por un uso abrasivo de la guitarra y la frequente repetición de melodias, creando asi un sonido en el cual la particular voz de Smith y sus cripticas letras, lo hacen único.
The Fall suele ser una banda prolifica: hasta Febrero del 2008 han editado 26 albumes, y mucho mas si se cuentan la cantidad de albumes en vivo y otras ediciones. Nunca tuvieron demasiada repercusión o exito a nivel masivo, por lo cual se la considera una banda de culto. La Bnada era una de las favoritas del ya difunto DJ de la BBC, John Peel, quien una vez llego a decir que The Fall: «siempre son diferentes, siempre son lo mismo»

Saw Fall in Exeter last night - still buzzing! Best Fall gig that I've ever been to... real atmosphere, packed out, brilliant set-list and loads of attitude... they played Psychic Dancehall and Wings for oldies but rest much more recent and sounded great. Drummer REALLY gives it welly. Can't wait to see them again - SPOT-ON.
