The Dickies es una banda de punk oriunda de California que emerge a fines de los años 70 en pleno estallido punk encabezando la escena californiana junto a bandas como Circle Jerks y The Germs. Si bien el sonido de los Dickies fue fuertemente influenciado por The Ramones, cabe destacar la originalidad y el carácter de parodia que presentan tanto sus letras como sus presentaciones en vivo. Usualmente sus canciones hacen referencia a películas clase b de culto como ser Toxic avenger, Attack of the mole man o Killer Clowns of outter space, así como también a situaciones propias de la cultura del sur californiano.
La banda continúa tocando actualmente con el mismo espíritu que hace 30 años convirtiéndose en una de los pocos sobrevivientes de la primer ola punk.
