Derek Trucks (nacido el 8 de junio de 1979) es un guitarrista americano que ha estado de gira desde los once años. Es conocido por usar slide guitar y su concentración estoica en el escenario. Ha tocado con algunos de los mejores músicos de la élite del Rock, como miembro de The Allman Brothers Band y de su propia banda, The Derek Trucks Band.

Aparte de unirse a su tío, Butch Trucks, gran batería, como miembro the The Allman Brothers Band, Trucks continúa como líder de su banda como guitarrista. Admirado como guitarrista de slide, Trucks fue listado el número 81 según la Rolling Stone en la lista de «Los 100 mejores guitarristas de todos los tiempos».

This guy's certainly an amazing guitarist, but he plays way too many notes, and often they're unpleasant, annoying sounds...he's kinda spastic...not all of his music, but a lot of it, especially the earlier stuff. I think his music would definitely benefit from a slower tempo...as it is, it's hardly ever relaxing...a similar problem I have with John McLaughlin. Don't get me wrong though, he's definitely a great musician and worth listening to. But I can't handle his music for more than like a half an hour.

My local station referred to Derek Trucks as a "new guitar god." Somebody needs a history lesson because Derek Trucks has been around for 20 years. He just hadn't been noticed by the sheeple of the mainstream radio crowd till 2007.

His laid back demeamor and smooth playing style contrast to the purely intense feeling of 'down in your gut blues' you get when hearing this band. Not only great to listen to they're fantastic to watch. The only thing better is seeing them live on stage.
