The Decemberists son una banda estadounidense de indie pop, formada en Portland, Oregon. Su nombre deriva de la «Rebelión Decembrista» de 1825 en Rusia, y la temática de sus canciones normalmente trata de historias y personajes ficticios, normalmente mezclado a hechos históricos y siempre manteniendo una línea narrativa.

The first time I listened to Hazards I wasn't really paying attention and I just couldn't be bothered to get into it but when I actually took the time to listen to it all the way through I found it stunning. Maybe it won't have that effect on others but I think it's lovely.

Hazards is definitely their weakest release since "The Tain" in my opinion. It is nothing compared their previously albums, particularly "Picaresque" or "The Crane Wife." 'Nuff said.

Hazards of Love is fantastic for what it is, and I think the band (or Meloy, anyway), really needed to just do one full length story-telling album (because really, after The Tain EP and a song like The Island, this was the next most logical move). That being said, It's hard to listen to just one song off of it, due to the fact that the songs never really end (in that they flow into the next song). I'm really anxious for a new album that goes back to their pre-hazards (and crane wife for that matter) sound. The new songs they played on this tour kinda had a Tarkio vibe to them, which is awesome.
