The guitar bit after the 'she used to be mine' bit always reminds me The Beatles' 'I Will'

Great band - ugly as sin though. Not saying that I'm a prize or nothing, just real happy they could play and write decent tunes or...........they'd be kinda lonely.

Geesh! I wasn't saying they did ALL their music in the 80s. They signed with Elektra in '77, but I was in HS at the old age of 12 which is when they came out with their stuff (started 9th grade in '78), and as I spent much of the 80s in college and grad school, I just associate pretty much everything I listened to back then as 80s stuff. But yes, of course, this was done before the 80s... still, they put out more albums in the 80s than they did the 70s.

Recorded in 1978...written in 1977. Love the sly "country stylings" in Elliot Easton's guitar solo.

Love the song (how can you not?), but as I approach the "half century lived" point, it amazes me how young these guys were when they were putting out some of the best music in the 80s. The Cars are SOOOOO "80s" and I mean that as the best compliment I can give a musician (even many of today's "kids" tend to agree the greatest decade for music was the 1980s, period! Full Stop!). I can only sit there and be thankful I'm a part of GenX, since GenXers were the ones who got to grow up listening to songs which would define the greatest decade ever for music in recorded history.

.........went to see these guys in concert once years back. They could have had cardboard cutouts off themselves on stage,,,,,,,,,,they never moved! The music was OK, but talk about a boring show!
