The World/Inferno Friendship Society es una banda de cabaret originaria de Brooklyn, Nueva York. Su estilo fusiona el punk, klezmer, y el gospel, mientras que sus miembros incluyen cuernos, piano, guitarra, percusiones, así como una variedad de otros instrumentos como acordeón, xilófono y campanas.

Este colectivo musical históricamente ha tenido más de 30 miembros, entre ellos ex miembros de Dexys Midnight Runners. Por lo general, uno puede esperar para ver unos nueve o diez miembros sobre el escenario cuando tocan en vivo. El grupo es liderado por el cantante Jack Terricloth y el guitarrista Lucky Strano, que han sido los miembros más constantes de toda la historia del grupo.

Saw them a basement show at my friend's place two nights ago, and Jack complimented me on my Witch Hunt shirt twice. Some guy started yelling "that's not true!" when everyone was singing "Only Anarchists are Pretty," so I started singing it really loud as close to him as I could get in the pit. Great night!

RE: what album to start with: I always recommend that folks start with Red-Eyed Soul...but that’s mostly because it was mixed rather more better than their earlier albums. Also, because it’s got the most tracks on it-& I assume that the more Inferno you hear, the more likely you are to get hooked. Which is my primary objective. Personally, my favourite albums are The True Story of the Bridgewater Astral League & Just the Best Party-but, uh, honestly-just listen to whatever you can get your hands on. They’re all good. Seriously, they all are. I say that with No Reservations Whatsoever. [i]So good.[/i]

I'm actually glad it was at the Savoy. Some things just are meant to be appreciated without having to smack 15 kids in the face to avoid getting a mouthful of elbow. Lame about Jack not being able to light his cigarette because of shitty non-smoking rules.
