Temple of the Dog, a pesar de haber publicado sólo un álbum, es una de las bandas más representativas del movimiento grunge de principios de los noventa.
Temple of the Dog fue creada por Chris Cornell, como tributo al vocalista de Mother Love Bone, Andrew Wood, fallecido por una sobredosis de estupefacientes.
La banda estuvo conformada por los anteriores miembros de Mother Love Bone, el guitarrista Stone Gossard y el bajista Jeff Ament,sumados al cantante Chris Cornell, ademas el baterista Matt Cameron, el guitarrista Mike McCready y el vocalista Eddie Vedder.
Cornell escribió dos canciones para Wood «Say Hello 2 Heaven» y «Reach Down», sin embargo, la experiencia de grabar estas canciones generó nuevos singles, hasta llegar a un álbum.

Does it really matter which album is the best. Two unique pieces of art, that cannot be compared neither between each other, nor with any other bands. What makes this two bands be so special, not only inimitable vocalists, but also Mike McCready's outstanding work.

AIC fans will think Mad Season is better, Soundgarden fans will think TOTD is better. Anyway both albums are great. Imo TOTD is better. It has as much soul, better compositions, a Cornell vocally on top...and there's the story surrounding it... definitely one of the best album of the grunge era.
