Summoning es una banda austriaca de Black Metal Sinfónico. Su estilo ha sido descrito como «Black Metal / Tolkien Folk», ya que las letras de la mayor parte de sus álbumes hacen referencia al mundo mitológico de J.R.R. Tolkien.
Summoning fue formado en 1991 por Silenius (Michael Gregor), Protector (Richard Lederer) y Trifixion (Alexander Trondl). Trifixion abandonó el grupo tras la grabación del disco Lugburz.

I know, Summoning are a genre of their own I think. I like how Protector chooses to master his tracks in the hightest quality sound. Rivendell and Elffor comes close, but they always have that sort of fake artificial sound that I just can't hear in Summoning. If Protector can make Summoning sound that good, can't wait for the next album cause he even upgraded all his synths! Can't fucking wait!
