Summoning es una banda austriaca de Black Metal Sinfónico. Su estilo ha sido descrito como «Black Metal / Tolkien Folk», ya que las letras de la mayor parte de sus álbumes hacen referencia al mundo mitológico de J.R.R. Tolkien.
Summoning fué fundado en 1991 por Silenius (Michael Gregor), Protector (Richard Lederer) y Trifixion (Alexander Trondl). Trifixion abandonó el grupo tras la grabación del disco Lugburz.
Miembros actuales:
~ Protector: voz, guitarra y teclado.
~ Silenius: bajo, voz y teclado.
Miembros anteriores/ invitados:
~ Trifixion: batería en Lugburz
~ Pazuzu: voz en algunas partes de Lugburz
~ Tania Borsky: voz femenina en Stronghold

With all do respect i think summoning are a very good band.. but i am more moved & touched by things like this instead Horn - Landscapes on Hold II ---------- Gontyna Kry - Wilowie why do things like this or abigor’s Nachthymnen speak more to me than anything Summoning have ever produced, ? i think because there is something very infantile & stale about Summoning that i just cant nor do not buy, like 12 certificate J.R.R Tolkien - Lord Of The Rings for the Hollywood mainstream masses, for the rich bitch kiddies cuddled up with mommy and daddy on those cosy Saturday nights in… ok, real black metal?, isn’t it supposed to push most kinds of people away?, & to draw those in who carry an inherent burden within them.. drawn towards that rare black flame is the deaths head moth.. for it doth search through cold & lonesome nights..
