Good live band too. Saw them in concert and noted they had Quadrophenia playing before they came on. They also started with Armenia in the Sky, Husker Du style :)

On the Kevin Shields/MBV thing, it is true that Bob Mould was a big fan. At the time he said his perfect concert would be MBV and Sugar playing simultaneously at opposite ends of a field. Also, the song Gift was actually about Kevin Shields giving Bob the distortion pedal he used on Loveless - that same pedal is used all over the FUEL album. That being said, I think Bob has always been upfront about his influences - he openly acknowledged that A Good Idea was a Debaser rip off so I guess he'd probably acknowledge the influence here because he was talking about MBV so much at the time...

I'm in my 40s and love every kind of music from drum n bass to country and Copper Blue is still my all time favourite album. Sugar were magnificent and left an indelible imprint on my soul. Thank you Bob.

superbnerb - the sugar lyric: "tell me i'm your favorite thing." the MBV lyric - "show me all your favorite things." both have the exact same melody and the exact same meter. it's pretty much a straight copy, but if you think that qualifies as remote, then i suppose you're right. not to mention the fact that, in 1992, bob mould was raving about MBV and putting loveless on the same level as pet sounds. two years later, this track appears. hmmmm. well, it wouldn't be the first time. he was really into richard thompson during his first round as a solo artist - and it shows. it's okay to have influences. denial of them, however, is just silly.

neither. really you think these two songs are similar? Even if they were, it's remotely at best. Lastly, he's got enough 'cred' built up to rip kevin shields off fully and still get away with it.

Is it a rip off or an homage to Blown A Wish? Hmm I'd like to think it's an homage. Anyone know any better?
