Stiff Little Fingers es una banda de punk irlandesa. Su nombre viene de la cancion Stiff Little Fingers de los britanicos The Vibrators. La banda ha tenido muchos cambios a lo largo del tiempo. Esta liderada por Jake Burns. Estuvo activa desde 1977 (cuando eran un grupo que hacia covers de Deep Purple) hasta 1983, cuando se separaron. Volvieron a juntarse en 1987 y continuan tocando en la actualidad. Entre sus integrantes formo parte Bruce Foxton de The Jam.
En un principio su estilo era puramente punk, agresivo, rapido y lleno de energia; caracterizado por la rasposa voz de Jake. Son considerados por algunos como los The Clash version irlandesa, pero tienen su estilo propio.
Su primer disco llego algo tarde para la escena punk, que empezaba a disolverse. En 1979 sacaron Inflamable Material. Un disco reconocido por todos los amantes del punk. Incluia exitos como Alternative Ulster y Suspect Device, dos clasicos del punk. Con la llegada de los 80 fueron perdiendo la agresividad punk, pero creando geniales canciones como las del LP Nobody’s Heroes y Go for it. Tomaron tambien cierta influencia del post-punk y del reggae.
Sus letras siempre han sido politicas y sociales en su mayoria; tocando temas como el racismo, pobreza, la cuestion norirlandesa, la xenofobia britanica, violencia, y tambien mucho enfasis antimilitarista.
