Odd you should complain about not having enough short-form songs on a Spock's Beard page. Because, yes, they do write long ones like this. But they also have written an unusually large number of shorter tunes for a prog band. Heck, off this very album, you've got, what, four in a row that are five minutes? Anyways, I actually just popped back in to let you all know that this is possibly one of their best songs ever. By a lot.

One of their best and most overlooked epics (along with Time Has Come)

If all prog songs were 3 minutes long, that would get really boring, and that wouldn't be enough time for bands to explore their talents.

The best song I have heard from these guys. I really love that ending. Oh, and to charlymetal, if you want shorter prog songs, why not try The lamb lies down on broadway by Genesis, or Asia, or maybe even Barclay James Harvest. Those songs are quite short.

One of the features of progressive music is the extended song lengths with long instrumental passages. This is a lot of what prog is all about.

Will there ever be a progressive rock band with a 3 minute song for a change, not that this one is bad, but it's too long.

Dumb band name? Well, they don't really want everyone to take them terribly seriously. In short, the members of classic Spock's Beard are big goofballs. Who do not sound much at all like Yes.

Agree with shu021 and LiquidEternity. Yes, genesis ++ are really important and made great music. But it's not like the first TV build was the best. Important and a milestone - yes. Spock's Beard, Neal Morse, Flower Kings, Pain of Salvation, The Tangent, Transatlantic and other "neo-prog" bands are what i prefer to listen to over the old bands.

I couldn't agree more with LiquidEternity (Well, actually I could, since I think SB is not only more interesting than these usually spoken bands, but they're more vivid, more intense)
