as much as I like this album, I do feel like it drags a tad. if a few songs were cut, I'm not really sure which ones right now, I think it would have been a better album. for me, Badmotorfinger is their best with this second.

BHS got way, WAY too much attention but i wouldn't say this is weak or the singles are particularly radio-friendly. FoBD is unremittingly miserable, moreso than any other grunge group. Obviously it's more mature and doesn't rock as hard as their earlier albums but it's perfect front-to-back listening for certain moods even on the 500th play; there's something unfathomably mysterious about it. It gives a lot of variety without trying to pick you up or take you down, just gives you something to get lost in. It's good for when you're wiped but need a kick

Can't believe this album gets so much love. I think it's Soundgarden's worst album (excluding their first two EPs), and it's also one of the weaker albums released by the big four of grunge. Some of the songs, particularly the radio friendly ones like Fell on Black Days and Black Hole Sun, are so boring and clumsily put together (yep I said it). I think Pearl Jam and even Nirvana (when they tried) did poppy stuff much better. I do really like Limo Wreck and Mailman (which sounds a bit like mid-era Melvins) though, and some of the other tracks are quite good. Maybe I'm just missing something that everyone else gets though.

Distant, murky and sourceful, it is the atmosphere of this era and down on the upside that really give the work strength beyond its simple rock creation. Look at this purely, honestly rock and the linear forms really mean nothing to what is captured to represent a time... represent a cacophony of embodied perception. Are you hearing a feeling or feeling a sound? Sound has such imagining depth, another intduced fiorm.

We got a pre-release of this from family friends who were in LA recording at A&M and we were camping on the Saulk River above Darrington. My dad knew Cornball since he lived in OH. We also knew Artemus, the spoon man, so we all thought it was cool. My folks were listening to it as we were driving. My dad had buds all over the dash drying out. We saw two cougars and two bears on that trip. My mom carried a .357 with her the entire week. Makes me think of the Cascades.

Fuck you all! THIS IS THE BEST SOUNDGARDEN ALBUM EVA! [2] Although if you feel like splitting hairs, an old AV Club comment once said "Badmotorfinger is the best Soundgarden album. Superunknown is the best Led Zep meets Black Sabbath album." Not really sure how true that is, though. Too busy loving this to bits.
