La banda australiana “Something For Kate» se formo en Melbourne en 1994. En los comienzos se llamaron “El Presidentè” y posteriormente «Fish of the Day», hasta que finalmente se decantaron por “Something For Kate», Originalmente la banda estaba integrada por Paul Dempsey (cantante y guitarra), Julian Carroll (bajo) y Clint Hyndman (bateria). En 1997 Julian Carrol fue sustituido por Toby Ralph, quien a su vez fue sustituido en 1998 por Staphanie Ashworth. Stephanie provenía de la banda «Sandpit» y rechazo una oferta para formar parte del grupo de Courtney Love, «Hole».
Como miembros ocasionales de la banda están: Wally Gunn (segunda guitarra y teclados), Phillip ‘Pip’ Branson (segunda guitarra y violin), Simon Burke (teclados) y Anthony Petrucci (segunda guitarra).
