Sixpence None the Richer es el nombre de una banda de pop-rock y Dream pop. Son originarios del estado de Texas, Estados Unidos. Empezó a cobrar forma a principios de los 90’s, cuando el guitarrista Matt Slocum conoció a la cantante Leigh Nash en un retiro de iglesia. Inicialmente el trío se completó con la incorporación del bajista T.J. Behling. El grupo grabó un demo en 1993 que les llevó a firmar con la casa de discos R.E.X. Su primer LP, «The Fatherless & the Widow» , apareció poco tiempo después.
Con la incorporación de Tess Willey, guitarrista, el nuevo bajista J.T. Plasencio y el batería Dale Baker, Sixpence None The Richer iniciaría su primera gira antes de volver al estudio para grabar en 1995 «This Beautiful Mess», al que siguió el LP «Tickets for a Prayer Wheel» ese mismo año. En 1997 volvieron a sacar otro LP con las ausencias de Wiley y Plasencio. Dos años más tarde consiguieron su mayor éxito con el single «Kiss Me» al que siguió otro gran éxito: «There She Goes» gracias a su inclusión en la película Snow Day. A pesar del abandono del baterista Dale Baker en el 2001, el grupo reunió material para otro nuevo álbum.
En el otoño del 2002 Sixpence None The Richer vuelve con el extraordinario «Divine Discontent», en el que realizan un cover de la canción «Don’t dream it’s over».
