Noruega (2001 – presente)

Sirenia se formó a principios de 2001 en Noruega cuando Morten Veland se alejó de su anterior banda Tristania debido a desacuerdos musicales y problemas personales.

En el año 2001, Sirenia lanza su primer album oficial, llamado At Sixes And Sevens, con Fabienne Gondamin a la voz. Fabienne presto su increíble e impresionante voz solo en este primer album, ya que como ella vivía en Francia y los demás integrantes eran y vivían en Noruega, debió retirarse del grupo por lo complicado que le resultaba

En el año 2003, Sirenia lanza su segundo album oficial, que se tituló An Elixir For Existence, con Henriette Bordvik a la voz, que reemplazo a Fabienne Gondamin.

Un año mas tarde ( 2004 ), Sirenia lanza un MCD llamado Sirenian Shores que para la mayoría de los fans, contenía una recopilación de todos los mejores temas de los dos anteriores albumes de la banda.

En el año 2007, Sirenia lanza su tercer album oficial ( sin contar el MCD Sirenian Shores ),llamado Nine Destinies And A Downfall, con una nueva vocalista, llamada Monika Pedersen, ya que Henriette Bordvik abandonó el grupo por razones personales.

Ese mismo año, el 5 de noviembre, se comunica en su página oficial que la nueva vocalista Monika Pedersen abandona el grupo por diferencias musicales. Monika es la tercera cantante que abandona le grupo (una por album). En los siguientes meses el grupo busca una nueva cantante y compone para su siguiente album.

    Well, yeah, it doesn't all sound the same, but... it's very often like: "Hm... I've already heard that riff/melody somewhere else..." ;-) And there are exceptions. The Eye of the Storm was a gripping and innovative one, though it's Mortemia... I don't really differ between both.

    v yep, far too structured. Every song is verse, chorus, verse, chorus, guitar solo, chorus. It was fine on the T13F but it grew tiresome on TEOL when every song was exactly the same. Why doesn't anyone tell him this? Are fans scared to say what they really think when they see him? Ailyn is amazing though, love her voice.

    They never will, not even close. Morten can't write that style anymore. I think he tried with Mortemia but the result was just Sirenia with more harsh vocals and choir. Just writes far too structured songs these days, need to vary it up, even make an album with a few 10 minute songs so we don't know what's coming next all the time. Not a fan of Ailyn at all :<
