Las ambiciones de estos dos DJs de Los Ángeles apuntan en otra dirección; aspiran a ser tan atemporales y perdurables como Bauhaus o The Cure. Hoy nos lo intentarán demostrar en la presentación de “She Wants Revenge” (Universal, 06), su estreno discográfico. Se proclaman hijos bastardos del “Loveless” de My Bloody Valentine y aseguran que las intenciones de su primer trabajo eran “hacer un disco que haga a las chicas bailar…. y llorar”. Al igual que los escoceses, los angelinos han pretendido estrenarse con una obra clásica, alejada de géneros y modas, y para ello cuentan con temas tan hipnóticamente adictivos como “These Things”, “Tear You Apart” o “I Don’t Wanna Fall in Love”. El dúo confirma sus intenciones en su página web: “Cohabitan actualmente cientos de bandas realizando mediocre música de género, pero ninguna de ellas nos hace sentir como cuando éramos chavales y nos tirábamos en la habitación a disfrutar de discos como “Purple Rain” o “The Queen Is Dead”. Resulta sencillo capturar un estilo de música, pero escribir canciones que lleguen a la gente es algo muy diferente”.

Go straight to "Love Me", the 5th track of Up and Down, and it won't seem so bad. I actually loved their new EP from the start :) it reminds me of the futurepop/darkwave group Covenant. Especially their songs Dead Stars (Version), Humility, Like Tears In Rain, Wall of Sound etc. There's nothing wrong with exploring!
