Best of 2012
7 Ene 2013, 1:27 de endonend
It was an incredible year of music. The rankings in this list are borderline arbitrary and I loved all of these albums. This was the year Spotify and a full-time job transformed my ability to discover new music. As always, I would love your suggestions and I'm always looking for new music.
Really, really awesome debut EPs you should check out:
Supermelodic Pulp - Astronauts, etc.
Don't Worry, You'll Be Here Forever - NO
My favorite 31 albums of the year:
1. Lonerism - Tame Impala
This is what I imagine the Beatles would sound like in 2012.
2. An Awesome Wave - Alt-J
Most unique and mesmerizing album I listened to this year.
3. Bloom - Beach House
Another flawless album in the vein of Teen Dream. Excellent live show if you get the chance.
4. Gone - Vacationer
Saw them at their first ever headlined show. Such a happy, catchy album. Nicest dudes ever too, looking forward to seeing their audience grow.
5. Mondo - Electric Guest

Mix of the Month - September 2012

September! September! September! Lots of great stuff this month, to the point where I've had difficulty adequately processing it. I did manage to pick out some good bits and pieces for a mix, though, and now I can just ignore the rest of it. Special mention to Tegan and Sara this month for a bangin' single that leaves me optimistic for their new album, and not-so-special mention to Muse for releasing an album that is basically self-parody. It's so over-the-top, disjointed, ridiculous, and derivative of other artists that I can't help applauding their utter lack of restraint, but they really could have used a strong-willed producer to reign them in a little. Ah well, when you're one of the biggest bands in the world and will sell millions no matter what you do I guess that sort of thing doesn't really matter.
Here is a list of things that were essentially plagiarized in The 2nd Law: Led Zeppelin (Kashmir)… -

My Vinyl Collection
3 Ago 2011, 15:39 de tlukes123
Yet Another list. I like looking through people's music collection so I thought I'd share what mine looks like. I've been collecting vinyl for about a year and I think I have a pretty decent collection so far.
Edit 10/18/2011 : Added two Pearl Jam, Mrs. Miller, David Gilmour, Doobie Brothers and Jefferson Airplane
Edit 4/6/2012: Added Siouxsie and the Banshees Nocturne and A kiss in the Dreamhouse, Allman Brothers Fillmore, Joan Jett's Bad Reputation and Canned Heat Cookbook (Best of). There were quite a few other ones I had to pass up namely Fleetwood Mac's Then Play On and Skull & Roses from the Grateful Dead. Maybe next time...
Edit 7/5/2012: Picked up Cream, The Beatles, Buffalo Springfield, Jimi Hendrix and The Go-Go's this time. Must have hit the store right after a collection came in. Didn't expect to find that much but walked away with some definite classics. Buffalo Springfield skips a little bit but not that bad for an older record and the others are in really great shape.
