Yes, this is the exciting news we’ve been wanting to bring you for a while - a new Ruth Theodore album due out summer 2012!

We can’t give away too much just yet, but suffice to say there’s a real sense of excitement bubbling away here at River Rat, having been party to Ruth’s rehearsals and development process over the last few months. With recording scheduled to begin in February, we’ll be bringing you updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the process. Be sure to keep in touch by joining Ruth’s mailing list or ‘liking’ the Facebook page.

Also very much hot off the press (i.e. yesterday), Ruth has been confirmed as sole support for Grammy award winning artist Ani DiFranco, for her two London shows at the fantastic Union Chapel, London, on January 10th and 11th 2012. Tickets are available for the tuesday and the wednesday. Ani is in the UK to promote her new album ¿Which Side Are You On?, her first studio album in three years. Very exciting!

And (almost) finally, an important date for your diaries; On February 10th Ruth and the full band will be playing a special show at King’s Place, London, as part of the Folk Union and Purpose & Grace series’, sponsored by fRoots Magazine. Be sure to get your tickets and be the first to here brand new material and arrangements from the forthcoming album.

If this wasn’t all exciting enough, tomorrow night Ruth and the band are playing a special intimate Christmas show in Camden, London - again with a couple of glimpses of new material! There are some tickets still available so come down and join us for a cosy Xmas evening, in part to celebrate five years of River Rat Records!

That’s all for now (plenty I’m sure you’ll agree).. Have a Merry Xmas and we hope to see you at a show soon.
