Rodrigo (Sánchez) y Gabriela (Quintero) son dos guitarristas mexicanos establecidos en Dublín poseedores de un sonido único creado en sus guitarras acústicas. Su música es difícil de definir; involucrando rock and roll, mezclándose con influencias clásicas y españolas. El fuego interior viene de una pasión de toda la vida por la música metalera. Rodrigo es un hábil requintista que se puede desplazar de una gran velocidad a un sensual movimiento en un solo traste, mientras que Gabriela emplea rápidas técnicas rítmicas.
Sus percusiones en las cuerdas y en la caja de la guitarrra nos lleva inevitablemente a la comparación con el flamenco – el cuál lo reconocen como una influencia únicamente -. El repertorio del dúo va más allá de los estilos folkóricos latinos debido al nexo con el metal.
Rodrigo y Gabriela describen su estilo como “una fusión musical”: “Principalmente se compone de ritmos y armonías latinas, pero el rock es la base. No es jazz porque es estructurada y no improvisamos, nuestros solos son exactamente igual a los del disco, y como fanático del metal y de la guitarra uno siempre quiere escuchar el mismo pinche solo!”

I like it. I love it when it's just the two of them going at it but this is cool. Again R y G don't have a bad album. I can see why people could dislike Area 52 but I wouldn't call this a true R y G album this is a collaboration with another artists. This was meant as a side thing while they work on new music. So all those that might be worried that they are headed in a direction they don;t like I don't thing thats the case.

Listened to Area 52 on stream. It's good... just good. Songs are rewritten than remixed so that's good to know. Now my complaints: I feel like all this new equipment, with the greater salsa influences laced within piano and brass from this C.U.B.A. really shrouds the duo's talent and how they get such a wallop with just two acoustic guitars. It's too maximal for their type of songwriting. That's why to me it makes RyG so special, and I'm not really getting that here. Maybe it will grow but it's the weakest album of their discography so far imo.

They have improved once again, it has a different vibe. Every track has been redone and is not a simply remix. People should be encouraging this. Transcending genres to make a new sound is not something every artist does. And after this tour there will be plenty of time for a new album.

The new album is not better than the earlier albums, nor is it worse than the earlier albums, and luckily it is not the same as the earlier albums; it is just as awesome, though.
