Split Enz - Six Months In A Leaky Boat
This song is so catchy and corny so I don't know why exactly I like it. Maybe it's because of the fact that today in a year 2012 not many people know of some new wave band from New Zaeland called Split Enz. Upon discovering them, and listening at least a half of their compilation History Never Repeats: the Best of Split Enz, I only liked three songs: this, History Never Repeats, and, of course, their biggest hit, I Got You.
So why this song in particular, out of those three did I choose? Well, it's on you to guess, I can only say that this song is very weird musically and I don't really under which genre I'd put it, because I've never heard anything like it. It's too upbeat, exploding with happy atmosphere, just like R.E.M.'s Shiny Happy People. I like everything that's off-the boundaries.

Mintzkov - Rising Sun, Setting Sun
It was one short phase that I had (all my phases are short) of listening belgian alternative rock bands. …
15 Ene 2012, 14:41 de bernlin2000First, I should just mention that Murmur is their best album, period :-) As they've moved into having more definite lyrics, it's just never been quite the same (although still very good) This list is also in order, and subject to change for sure (since I'm just delving into their albums)
4. Orange Crush
3. Losing My Religion
2. Shiny Happy People
1. Man on the Moon (much like Fleetwood Mac's Landslide (The Dance version) this is one of those tracks I could play for days on end without getting bored of it, but I would annoy everyone around me eventually :-P)
12 Jun 2010, 9:27 de UshinattaKotobaSomething not J-Rock connected this time.
Since I'm in Nostalgia Mode again, I came to think of 10 Music Videos which somehow had an impact on me when I was a child and are therefore for me connected with this time. But the last ones are more in this list, because they were on MTV quite often then and since I needed 10, I took them XD
Here they are in order of importance to me:
01 Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a Hole
Those heads freaked the crap out of me. I remember thaｔ one evening when I was supposed to sleep but couldn't and got uｐ again and it was on TV. That night I had nightmares >_< It was really disturbing back then and I think it is still (in an other way of course). I wish nowadays something like that would have a chance to appear on MTV... It was so much better then. (That's what you call Nostalgia, isn't it?)
02 Guns N' Roses - You Could Be Mine

Near Wild Heaven... not near enough.
I'm sitting outside on the fourteenth of April in pleasant New Haven, Connecticut. The sun is shining through the virgin green buds of the Linden trees, casting a shadow upon the front porch on which I sit, laptop by my side. Bees buzz in the breeze, too placid to sting or even move. The temperature is a beautiful 73 degrees Fahrenheit, and R.E.M.'s 1991 record "Out of Time" is playing.
These are the days for which this album was made. I think I'm happier than I've been in months. What changed? Such is the paradox of Summer, the season during which one's troubles seem to simply drift away, as if they were never even there. The key to making what we know of as a "Summer Album" is to emulate this very feeling.
The group's previous LP Green presented them with two very different possibilities as to what path the band could go down musically. …

22 Ago 2008, 14:39 de mona_mothmaMore than 15 years of obsession with, erm, I mean interest in R.E.M.and I've never seen this video before.
R.E.M. and Muppets?!? A collaboration waiting to happen, I know. And what song could possibly be better suited for this collaboration than Shiny Happy People?
I'm beginning to see why the band never play the song live any more. But it's fun to watch nevertheless. Although, looking at Peter in the video, it was apparently not as much fun to shoot. Still, he makes a brave attempt at not running from the set screaming. ;) And note how Mike fascinatedly keeps watching the puppeteers instead of the puppets.
"Come on, monsters. You don't have to cry. We can be happy!" - Watching this? You bet we can!
13 May 2008, 23:22 de obiwanjpYeah, it's been too long, again. I was able to suck almost all of my music from my iPod to a new Mac. Yay.
I was prompted to give Out of Time a new listen. I did. Yup, still love it. Going to bed now.
I'm going to say my two favorite songs on this album are Near Wild Heaven and Low.
It's not that I don't love Radio Song, Losing My Religion and Shiny Happy People. Those are great songs, and I'll listen to them over and over again. I don't know, those two songs just call to me....
Seriously, good night.
