After nearly 20 years listening to metal (and loads of concept albums) I've just got round to Operation Mindcrime and it is as good as everyone always said. It was a Vandals lyric that put me off: 'I've had [a mullet] since the first time I saw Queensryche'.

Группа отличная, спору нет, но для того, чтобы быть представителем жанра progressive metal - слишком лёгонькая.

I am a bit puzzled why people think that La Torre is not a suitable replacement, considering that Tate was past his best long ago... Honestly, I think of his voice as a breath of fresh air in terms of QR's sound

The best thing about Queensryche has always been the music and Tate wasn't responsible for the music, so Tate wasn't Queensryche at all.

Listened again to them after around 2 decades! Old memories came back as a waterfall. Sad to hear of De Garmo's departure and the controversy with Tate. But good music lives on.

    Operation: Mindcrime!!

I believe the decay of this amazing band is the result of 1) de Garmo's departure 2) Tate's voice deterioration (compare live evolution to livecrime, if you haven't seen them live after 2000) 3) Tate's dictatorship in the band after de Garmo's exit, ranging from management to music decisions. I like the new cd with la Torre, he is a great early-Tate imitator and brings back memories. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything close to Mindcrime or Promised Land, but a band that does not disgrace the name Queensryche. In my opinion, the band should have broken up after de Garmo's departure. [2]

Tate was queensrÿche enough said. Out of all current and former members he was the most important. Todd latorre doesn't deserve to fill his position or imao his coffee cup at Starbucks

First listen to FU, not half bad I must say. Pleasantly surprised even. Maybe 2 songs I just don't care for... at all (not counting the re-recordings), better than many of albums after Promised Land.

    |V| - Indeed, after "Hear The Now Frontier", they should be stopped. DeGarmo was the main gear of Queensryche, with his remarkable sound and distinctive musical thoughts.

Also completely agree with Thradar. It's no coincidence that it coincides with DeGarmo's departure. They missed him and it showed. Rage For Order is my favourite for what it's worth (almost nothing :D)

Almost completely agree with the guy just below me. They didn't die for me but: just from the EP to Promised land, the albums were pretty much interesting from the first unto the last song. For me the everyting upt to that moment made them my favourite band ever. Later albums just a few songs appeal to me on each one of them. Even could not be bothered anymore to listen to the albums after Operation: Mindcrime II.

For me QR died with Hear in the Now Frontier, and I was there from the beginning when the EP was released. Yes, they've had their moments on albums from now and then, but that was the last time I really found the stuff compelling and interesting to listen to. I mean, hell...The Warning through Promised Land is just EPIC stuff.

i think you allare missing the point here. There are now two Queensryches. One maybe better than the other that's opinion based really. But now theres two so you all get double queensryche!!!!

Geoff has been a shit vocalist for two decades now. Sorry to burst your bubble Tate fans, he was at his apex during their first EP and first album, but then when they started to play Dadrock Stadium shit his vocals got worse.

  • Piske81

Even if you don't like Geoff's work, bashing his melodies and lyrics is so stupid because the new ''real'' singer (as much as I appreciate what Todd has done for the band) tries his best to sound like him and write lyrics reminescent of Geoff's style

  • Acarith777

JMFG2112 please go get a copy of Tate'sryche and listen to it until you puke (which will probably been by track 2 or 3). Queensrÿche are much better without the sniveling Tate at the helm now. The real Queensrÿche have suffered enough with Tate's crappy melodies and lyrics long enough. Now that the band have gotten a "real" singer, they can move on to bigger and better things. Geoff Tate can take his sorry solo career and hired guns band and go pretend to rock out while drinking Tate's Insania wine (which also tastes like crap).

    Diciembre 2013
  • JMFG2112

Queensrÿche without Geoff isn't the real Queensrÿche. Sorry, but Queensrÿche died when Tate just move away.

Queensrÿche's latest album was like a steak: Maybe there could have been more to it, but it all seemed savory and satisfying. Tatesrÿche's latest album was like half a bag of potato chips. [2]

@ Geoff Tate haters: you should at least take a few minutes to listen his new LP, before bashing. He was in this band for 30 years, he deserves a chance. Judge musically, and not attitude/personalities. Start with his new songs: Cold, Everything, Fall, Weight of the World. It's hard for real 'Ryche fans from the Promised Land era, to dislike these songs.

@Lesanderd Thanks. Yes, the game I described is great. Chris De Garmo should be the game referee. I still like these 6-7 tracks from both bands.
