Pyramaze es una banda danesa/americana de power metal progresivo, que se formó en el año 2001.
La primer presentación de la banda tuvo lugar el 23 de abril de 2004 en Minneapolis, Minnesota, Estados Unidos. Lanzaron su álbum debut en mayo de 2004, titulado «Melancholy Beast», seguido por una gira. Durante ese tiempo, el guitarrista danés Toke Skjønnemand se unió a la agrupación.
En febrero de 2006, la banda lanzó su segundo trabajo: «Legend of the Bone Carver», un disco conceptual que fue muy bien recibido por los fanáticos. En Noviembre de 2006, se anunció que el vocalista Lance King dejaría la agrupación, por lo que Matt Barlow (ex-Iced Earth) volvió a la escena del metal, tomando el lugar de King.
El 11 de diciembre de 2007, el guitarrista Jon Schaffer anunció en su página web que Barlow se reuniría nuevamente con Iced Earth. Recientemente, el sitio oficial de Pyramaze indicaba que Barlow finalizaría la grabación del nuevo material de la banda, llamado «Immortal», y luego volvería a trabajar junto a Iced Earth.
Tras la marcha de Barlow, se unió a la banda para la gira de «Immortal» y futuros proyectos Urban Breed, ex-vocalista de Tad Morose y Bloodbound.

Having Matt Barlow doing vocals on the last album was the best thing for Pyramaze. Seriously, I would imagine that a lot of people checked them out just because of Matt. Once those people heard them I'm sure they became fans and will remain fans even without Matt on vocals.

Matt Barlow was AWESOME in Pyramaze, but I think Lance King suited their overall sound better because it made them more unique. Matt Barlow was awesome though because it reminded me of older Iced Earth which was sweet. I have never really heard Urban breed before but I remember hearing a small sample and he sounds much more similar to Lance King than Matt Barlow, so their older songs will probably sound pretty awesome at lives.

matt barlow is actually a better over all vocalist but he is not the best fit for the band, and lance king was the best for the band. hope fully urban breed can find the medium. but ill still buy there next ablum even if he dosn't, lol

Urban Breed is an amazing vocalist. You can listen to him in Bloodbound and Tad Morose, both of which you can find here on last.fm. I'm amazed that Pyramaze can somehow managed to haul in a marlin every time they look for a vocalist.
