@Tigerzen: Prince actually does a great deal of covers, more than most artists I can think of, but mostly live :)

I love this song! I have versions from Prince, Alicia Keyes and Stephanie Mills in my library.

Well, piano and vocals alright, but I think I hear something keeping the rhythm in the background. What's that, foot stomping?

Right now this song is 85th on his most scrobbled for the last week. Lots of people are missing out! "It's just one lousy dime, baby"

Alicia does do a fantastic job on her cover of this song, but you all are so right to say that Prince's version is the best. This goes to prove that other artists should write their own music. He (Prince) rarely covers others songs, but many people (O'connor, Keys, and even Leann Rimes) have tried to cover his music and so far Alicia Keys has come closest to doing his music justice!

My home town brother has once again reminded me why I dig his vibe. I totally dig how he has matured as an individual. Peace be on to him and his! See you on the scene!!!

I agree.... as much as I dig Alicia Keys, she's not touching Prince

Heh, I really dislike her version. But Prince's original is achingly gorgeous.

Without a doubt one of my favourite Prince songs. Far better than Alicia Keys' version - though I do like her version as well. Like how minimalistic and stripped down the song is - just brilliant.

I can't understand why this song isn't everyone's fav. The bass just makes me go "mmm mmm mmmmmm"

"How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" is a ballad, piano strolling beneath an aching falsetto vocal. Slow and melancholy, it still featured the Tourettic abruptness and compulsive precision, the sudden shrieks and silences, that made Prince's music my brain's balm. - Lionel Essrog, Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem
