Primitive Radio Gods nace a fines de los años 80 bajo el nombre de I-Rails clasificandose como una banda de rock alternativo independiente. Sus miembros son Chriss O’Connor (voz, guitarra y bajo), Tim Lauterio (percusión) y Luke McAuliffe (en otros instrumentos adicionales como violin, guitarra y piano, ademas de ser el diseñador del arte en la pagina web, el album entre otras cosas). Jeff Sparks fue parte importante de este proyecto componiendo algunas letras, cantando y tocando el bajo hasta el año 2001 cuando inicio sus propios proyectos.
Su exito más importante fue ‘Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in my Hand’ del año 1996 incluido en la banda sonora de The Cable Guy.
