“The Great Gig in the Sky”, “Money” and this tune constitute the kind of rhythm and blues the band aspired to play in their earliest days before going in the direction they went with Syd. Through his departure and Gilmour’s adeptness at playing scorching psychedelic blues rock (in tandem with his voice, and his flowering abilities as a composer in his own right at this point), their going back to more simple arrangements and away from the more complex experimental attempts at a greater experience then just the 3-minute single. The fact those three songs are essentially the anchor of the record regarding the dark side indeed of the human experience, speaks to not just the sheer emotion one can hear in not just Gilmour and Wright’s voice echoing Roger’s words but the spoken word passages reinforcing the increasing sad state of affairs of well, us and them.

Yeah this is evergreen going back to hearing it in my dads car on classic rock stations in the early 90’s. Even the hard rock station played Floyd at least once a day. I’m sure that’s no longer the case but I did hear 98.9 play Hendrix last week so maybe the Bear is great again.

Eu amo essa música, primeira chapação foi ouvindo ela e nunca esquecerei do momento incrível que foi. Amo o cd inteiro, mas essa é uma das que eu mais gosto depois de Time.

Of all the overarching eye-to-eye stuff Roger has written about the human condition, this stands a bit taller for the simple expression of the lyric from the verses echoing off to the chorus, loud and bright. The real treat of hearing this in surround sound is how the saxophone lifts as it switches to the choruses. The addition of Dick Parry, and his able touch on the saxophone, are the purely musical highlights of this record, not withstanding the way his playing itself works in tandem so well with the lyrics.

That sax solo at the beginning is one of the most gorgeous things I've ever heard, it puts in a very relaxed and dreamy mood, marvelous song

Really love this song! Which other tracks from Pink Floyd or any other artist/band would you recommend that are similar in style or mood?
