You might want to try Meddle (1971) before Animals which is hard to get into on first listening. Meddle on the other hand is more melodic then Animals and laid some of the foundations for Dark Side of the Moon.

Wish You Were Here and The Dark Side of The Moon are pretty much perfect to my mind. The Division Bell and The Wall weren't as good as them. Those are all the Floyd albums I've heard so far. (I simply don't know why I haven't searched for more of their music since they are one of my favourite bands....) I've heard that Animals is awesome?
