Pentagram es una banda americana de Hard Rock originaria de Virginia. Destacados en el ámbito musical por ser considerados, junto con Black Sabbath, como precursores del movimiento que a la postre se conocería como Doom Metal. Formada en 1971 fue una banda de bajo perfil durante la década de los 70’s produciendo algunos demos y cintas propias pero sin lograr lanzar al mercado un disco completo sino hasta los 80’s, ya con una formación completamente diferente. A través de la historia de la banda el único miembro que ha permanecido a lo largo del tiempo es el vocalista Bobby Liebling y muchos de sus miembros han participado en bandas del renombre de Place of Skulls, Internal Void, Spirit Caravan entre muchas otras.

Después de Show ‘em How la banda a permanecido con poca estabilidad debido a los problemas de conducta de Bobby, incluyendo un colapso en un concierto en el Black Cat Club de Washington obligando a la banda a invitar a Hassalvander y otros para suplirlo.

Hank Williams III incluyó versiones clasicas de Pentagram en su repertorio en vivo. Durante su concierto en el Black Cat Club en el 2006 Liebling se unió a Williams para cantar algunas canciones del repertorio. También en el 2006 Liebling se inició a otra banda pionera del Traditional Doom, Witchcraft para tocar covers de Pentagram como «When the Screams Come» y «Yes I Do» 2

Bobby was my uncle's best friend when they were fifteen, they hung out after school every day and listened to Blue Cheer and Black Sabbath records. He said that they were sort of a joke in the music scene in Virginia back then because the only times they played live were in the drummer's dad's warehouse in front of almost nobody. Funny how things have changed so much since then. They still email from time to time and apparantly this whole cult following has gotten to Bobby's head a little.
