Opeth es una banda sueca de progressive death metal formada en 1990 en Estocolmo (Suecia). Su estilo es reconocible por elementos no demasiado comunes en el metal más extremo: interludios de guitarra acústica, voces limpias, baladas, etc. Este original concepto sonoro ha atraído la atención de aficionados al doom metal, black metal, death metal, y progressive metal; pero sólo a aquellos que han abierto sus mentes a las voces guturales.
El nombre del grupo proviene de una novela titulada Sunbird, de Wilbur Smith. En el libro, Opeth es un lugar en el que hubo un antiguo imperio cuyo nombre podría traducirse por «Ciudad de la Luna».

The song "apostle in triumph" still gives the chills every time i listen to it.. and regarding watershed, it's a decent album though not anywhere near BWP, MAYH, orchid or Still life.. Heir apparent and lotus eater are two of the best songs composed by mike..

I love their debut album - "Orchid". "Under the weeping moon" is so dramatic, beautiful track! My favourite albums are also "Morningrise", "Damnation" and "Blackwater Park". It's like a band without bad album for me. Generally, I love Opeth! But I haven't heard "Watershed" yet, so I say about their discography without the newest cd. :P
