First, make a list of your top-20 artists overall. Then, for each of these artists, add the 8 most similar artists to your list. Delete any duplicates, count up the number of entries on your list and this will give you some idea of how eclectic your listening habits are. A score of 9 represents an extremely unvaried musical taste while a 180 represents an extremely varied one.

22 Feb 2011, 1:06 de sonikmhListening to music is significant part of my every day/night life. As my wast collection of music grows and grows I'm starting to loose track of all what I have lately...so I began to listen to what I call now 'random music' a few month back. It's very simple - my music player Amarok/iPod is just set to random play. It occurred to me a few times that it would be nice to make a mix some time because often it feels just right what plays in random order.
I have my Amarok set to show 5 tracks back and 27 forthcoming and this mix is a 1 hour part of one workday evening playlist...

31 Dic 2010, 0:22 de Babs_05I imagine my friends have fallen off their chairs in shock. I promise to do one of these every year then wimp out at the enormity of the task. How on earth do you choose?!
I listened to about 500 new releases this year, not counting the ones I didn't like, so the actual figure is higher. 500 down to 10?
I saw a little sentence the other day - good music will always surface. If this is so, then all I have to do is look at what drifted to the top.
This journal is in three parts: albums I am not counting in my top 10 but deserve mention, albums that turned my head, and my top 10.
You don't mess with the masters
What's interesting about seeing your stats and charts in Last.fm is they are not always what you expect. I am maintaining a few collections, Massive Attack and Gorillaz for instance. I have both their new releases, but I didn't make the time to listen that often. …

26 Ago 2010, 17:41 de CvaldaVessalisHello everyone! Hope you all had a great summer... Mine was actually pretty hectic to say the least, but a ton of fun! Gig-wise, only managed to see P!nk in Ireland with a couple of mates back in June and, whilst it was certainly one of the more professional shows I have yet seen and the pop-rock star certainly does hoof her way around the stage with great momentum (the big highlight being her encore of So What, which saw her propelled over the stadium crowd in steel-hoop harness, spinning herself into a dizzying frenzy), the event itself left me a little cold, despite the blazing heat of the sunny weather. Her supports included Hockey (who happened to be very good, despite the non-plussed crowd reaction), Butch Walker and his Black Widows band (who happened to be quite milquetoast for a hard-rock band, not that the crowd seemed to mind) and Ireland’s premier commercial radio DJ (whose name has been banished from my memory forever).

1.)IAMX - "Kingdom Of Welcome Addiction"
While this brand of electronic-pop isn’t necessarily unique, the organization and orchestration of darkly erotic 1980s-influenced electro pop produced hook after hook that kept me coming back to Chris Corner’s extremely addictive Kingdom of Welcome Addiction all of last year and well into 2010. An improvement over The Alternative…
