Muse - Best Of 2010

I went to London

A couple of weeks ago i was in london, it was great, we had lots of fun, it's such a beautiful city. We were there for ten days, we visited some museums (science museum, natural history museum, tate modern) and we hang around on picadilly circus, leicester square, trafalgar square, big ben, london eye, hyde park, mayfair, covent garden, oxford circus, earls court, camden, lots of nice places. We went to Teingmouth, to discover this little town, it's a nice place too, but it's very small, there is not too much things to see. We saw The Pier, The Beachcomber, the place where were A Seaside Rendez-vous last year, and lots of old people, lots of pharmacy and lots of seagulls ! I thought it was really the Muse town, but it's not, just a bookshop sold some Muse stuff.

Then we were back to london, and we went to Wembley Stadium to see Muse both nights, GA tickets for the 10 and level 2 for the 11. We went there at 6 in the morning on the 10 to queue. …

I am writing this journal to show off my love for Muse by presenting my favourites from each of their studio albums. My ranking obsession has finally led to my long-postponed album ranking list. I cannot say it's a definite list for each day brings another emotion connected to a Muse song or an entire album.

The fact is, Muse is not a band which is positioned in my mind by the likes of a single album. The true greatness of Muse is delivered as a whole. An album isn't guilty of making me cry for just thinking of seeing them live. Muse as an extraordinary piece of art and energy, breathing through each of Matt's guitar riffs, Chris phlegmatic, but energetic live bass lines, and Dom's childish smile, is what makes the music of Muse so inspiring, emotional, enervating, epic and magical.

Glastonbury: Muse @ The Pyramid Stage, Saturday 26th June 2010

Muse at Glastonbury this year has long been set as the “one to watch”. I overheard one say to another “Muse tomorrow, I don’t give a f*** if I don’t see anybody else” and another say “watching them will make you a fan”… But tonight there’s more to it than that, as this is Muse’s first Glastonbury appearance since the tragic passing of drummer Dom Howard’s father, shortly after watching the band perform their greatest show to the date.

As much as I prayed and danced around in circles for things to go the way I predicted them to by open unusually with a classic, they kept the commercial approach to a setlist opener and kicked off with Uprising followed-up buy Supermassive Black Hole to clear the new hype and Twilight obligation swiftly, and hit their stride with New Born and the near perfect Map of the Problematique.

The fat eighties beat of Guiding Light works the open air, and the setlist return of Citizen Erased is a big moment for me…

4 Night Dream Festival

Inspired by Triple J's recent "Impossible Music Festival" it got me thinking about what bands I'd love in one festival. So, due to the recent holidays and my sleeping patterns being thrown out of wack due to the World Cup, I set myself the task of plotting a festival that no one else might enjoy, but I damn well would. The set up goes like this:
Warm Up Act - 4 songs
Opener - 6 songs
Main - 10 songs
After Party - 6 songs
Some of the line ups ran to a lot shorter time wise than others, in which case I gave the After Party band 2 extra songs (and I gave the after party band on the last night an extra song because I could). The nights should try and follow a similar theme, so no acoustic country band following a death metal one.

Feel free to give it a shot yourself, of just leave me abuse for my choices.

Deslocação Rock in Rio 2010

Depois de o despertador ter tocado as 6:45 mas eu só me ter levantado as 7 (nem a excitação do RiR me consegue tirar facilmente da cama xD), de um pequeno-almoço despachado e um banho rápido, lá vesti a minha t-shirt dos Muse com a capa do Absolution (muito bem estampada, ao contrário de muitas t-shirts que vi por lá) segui para a estação de Campanhã onde me encontrei com parte do grupo magnífico com quem partilhei este maravilhoso dia :)

Após uma viagem de mais de 3 horas de comboio (cadê o TGV? xD) passada com muito sono à mistura, mas também passada alegremente com jogos de memória ou... Stop musical, adequado ao dia! xD (com vitória clara do jogador mais forte, diga-se!), satisfizemos as nossas necessidades alimentares no Vasco da Gama. Olhando para o relógio, eram ainda 14h, e as portas do recinto abriam só as 16h... O que vamos fazer agora? Era a pergunta dominante! Pois bem, vamos andar de teleférico!

Guiados por um membro muito simpático da cidade dos mouros (aka Lisboa) que se juntou ao nosso grupo…
