Maybe you have heard about it, maybe you have even have heard it.

That's right, I'm talking ofcourse about the noises which are defined as post-rock. Post-rock is a music genre that requires the least effort out of all genres out there and can be best described as really boring. Although 90% of all post-rock bands come from the godforsaken country called Canada, there are also bands like Mogwai (United Kingdom) that are actually quite good.

Line-up

The line up of a random post-rock band would probably be something like this:

. Picking the guitar
. Playing the drums once every few seconds
. Violin
. Blowing in a bottle
. Spoken word
+ ~ 10 bandmembers to fill up

Bandmembers

You probably wonder what the share is of the other bandmembers. well after watching some videos of a certain post rock band called Godspeed You! Black Emperor (ridiculous name) I have come to the conclusion that they do absolutely nothing. I heard only one guy playing the guitar (pretty easy tabs) and saw three people "playing" the guitar. My guess is that more bandmembers make them look good or something.

Sound

The post-rock sound will most likely remind you of airports. you know those lame boring tunes at the terminals, thats what I'm talking about. The songs are all around the 30 minutes long and all have their fair share of total silence and the spoken word. It may occur that a song only has 2 or 3 minutes actual music and the rest being filled up with buzzing and screeching background sounds.

Offspring

It all started one night somewhere in the 90's with some hippies in Canada (probably French Canada). They got high in a circle and played for hours with a guitar, recorded it all and sold it troughout the years to make some major cash. Other moochers got the idea from this one band and thus the movement grew larger

Fanbase

The music isn't really that bad because you don't have to listen to it, and if you do happen to have to listen to it, you will hardly even notice it. However what is really bad, is the fanbase. Maybe you have seen them popping around in one of them last.fm shoutboxes. The most common post-rock listener has a Japanese cartoon avatar and makes lame jokes all the time. And are totally unable to think rationally and automaticly assume everyone likes the same boring crap they like. If you still don't know what I'm talking about; look below at the shouts.
