Formados en la somnolienta cuidad de Peoria en la metrópolis de Chicago, Illinois, y la inspiración de una ciudad remota bielorrusa que ha sido quemada a la tierra sólo para ser reconstruido como una rebelión de fénix de sus propias cenizas, MINSK son una colección enigmática de contraposiciones. La música es inmediatamente moderna, orgánica, y algo mundana; las canciones revuelven viajes acústicos que canalizan los ritmos de la tierra y la resonancia de la voz humana con los sonidos sintéticos de máquinas, amplificadores, caos, y efectos. Fundado en Peoria en 2002, Minsk ha estado cultivando la exploración sonora, desahogos profundamente espirituales y emocionales desde su inicio.
Los primeros años eran fructíferos; sacaron un demo de distribución local(titulada “ Burning” liberado con la ayuda de Lisa Falzone Recordings), un viaje de Costa de Oeste y una aparición abriendo el Templars of Doom Festiva en 2004, y una contribución a una compilación llamada Peoria-themed, If It Plays, por Thinker Thought Recordings.
Fue a principios del 2005, mientras grababan su primer disco (‘Out of a Center Which is Neither Dead Nor Alive’) en los Volume Studios con el productor Sanford Parker de la cinta (PELICAN, UNEARTHLY TRANCE, RWAKE) fue recién donde encontraron a su bajista y asi la alineación final queda consolidada. De un Centro … fue liberado más tarde ese año sobre GRABACIONES PERPLEJAS.

What happened was that after their third song they concert was supposed to be finished but the guys started to jam up until suddenly Sanford gets back on stage and almost literally turn the sound down because the cops were about to get into the venue. All because it was a residence zone and someone presented a charge about the volume level that was being made at that hour. Was kinda a downblow for the boys, specially Tony and Chris who looked like wanting to play until dawn. But it was a nice night after the gig...

listened to their debut full-length for the first time before the minsk/asol gig tonite, really impressed. it just has nothing to do with all that typical "post-metal" bands. crushing sludgy Narcotics And Dissecting Knives is awesome, psychedelic and spacy Holy Flower Of The North Star is beyond imagination.
