She Hangs Brightly was released in 1990 on Rough Trade Records, following the demise of David Roback’s previous band Opal. The album was re-released by Capitol later that same year. For those that are not familiar with Mazzy Star this will be real treat for you. Mazzy Star is a very different sounding band that has a sound all their own. Very reminiscent of The Doors and the 60′s folk and psychedelic styles with a modern twist. The vocalist, Hope Sandoval, has an amazing voice and a very unique singing style. She has been called a female Jim Morrison by many. During live performances, Sandoval prefers to sing in near-darkness with only a dim backlight, playing the tambourine, harmonica, glockenspiel or shaker. She is reputed to have a shy personality. Her stage presence has been described as “idly withdrawn, barely acknowledging the audience”. All attributes of a young Jim Morrison when he started with The Doors.

not possible to have a more perfect album/debut. a lot of first albums are monumental, but i mean,.......c'mon!!!!!!! i sense a deal with the devil might have been made. subsequently, every album thereafter as well. yeah, i'm a fan.

Has anyone seen Love and a 45? It's how I found out about this incredible album, they used two of the tracks, Ghost Highway and Give You My Lovin. When I heard Give You My Lovin it was love at first listen, that song still makes me cry... And some people don't get it (!)
