This is not only my favourite Marianas Trench song, it's one of my favourite songs PERIOD. At first listen, it just sounds like an upbeat, almost anthemic pop song, but once you actually listen to the lyrics, you realize that this is a terribly wistful picture of a character who is in a relationship that is in many ways abusive, but that he allows it to happen because he's desperate for the affection. I absolutely love this song. What at first is a head shaking, toe-tapping, shout along with the hook sort of song becomes a beautiful, poignant picture of this desperately needy person who'll do anything to keep someone else happy, so he can feel like things are "perfect." Absolutely beautiful and so masterfully done. It makes me want to write :)
