There is no other album like Crystal Logic. Closest you can get is probably "Metal".

Certainly not as much as some later stuff, but what else was this epic at the time? Nevermind as a debut album!

Invasion wasn't exactly epic yet, except for The Empire.

Listening to Invasion for the first time. I've heard a bunch of their other stuff before, but it's blowing me away how much of an epic debut album this is. Very ballsy move by them, and clearly they continued on the right path after that too!

"You can't happen to be commercial. It can only be done on purpose. And being accessible isn't equal to being commercial." well, i guess i just have a looser of commercial.

i mean, going out of your way to be commercial is obviously bad, but just being commercial because you happen to be accessible and still make solid music isn't bad. figured the guy with the Iron Maiden avatar would know that. ;) [2]..

Being commercial is definitely always bad imo. Catchiness can be good, but not if it's just catchy for the sake of being catchy like with most pop music.

Please define "more commercial elements of modern music", cause I don't see how that applies to any Iron Maiden material. And how does the use of keyboards by any degree make music commercial? I especially don't see why you consider the later material (post-reunion) more commercial, since the songwriting is far more complex and sophisticated compared to early 80s Maiden. If you mean songs like The Wicker Man, Different World or Wildest Dreams, then remember that they always had such catchy tunes, even in the Di'Anno era. Running Free, Sanctuary, Run to the Hills etc.

Kelemvor, you would certainly prefer any Manilla Road album and the pre-Dickinson Iron Maiden over the albums featuring more commercial elements of modern music and heavy use of keyboards if that was really your listening preference. "Feeling Free Again" and the few similar songs on Crystal Logic are hardly more commercial than those albums.
