" I was that kid sittin' over in the corner, smiling with a shit-eating grin And I was that kid smilin' in the back of class 'cause I'm fryin' on mescaline I was that kid drinkin' 40's on the bleachers getting drunk after school Gettin' home too late, fallin' on my face, way too drunk to skate and actin' a fool" This actually describes a certain part of Robb's life, so it has a deeper meaning for him. Just some information about "American High". I really dig this album, nothing as amazing as "The Blackening" or "Through The Ashes Of Empires", but a really enjoyable album nonetheless. Much better than "The Burning Red" in my opinion.

It is a "middle ground" album with some VERY good songs. "Bulldozer", "Trephination", "Deafening Silence", "Only the Names" and even "Nausea" are very cool. Although fully follow the "commercial" tendencies of the age in which it was done, it was an album that even aged well.

Their lowest point creatively. It's not even the "nu metal" sound or the shitty production. It's just a boring, overlong album with incredibly mediocre songwriting.

Not as bad as people say at all. I got into this album before reading anything about what the "general opinion" was. Bullshit. If there was no social discussion on the internet about albums I wonder how many of these "shitty" albums from different bands would actually be enjoyed by many more people. Long live the fuckin head!

this album is really cool, screw the haters, i've been listening to it since it came out and i believe that none of you whiners knew who Machine Head were at the time, so stfu. There are some stand-out tracks like Only the Names or Defeaning Silence, give them a try, it's better than some lame Darkness Within or some other crap for 15 year-old girls.

"Some of Robb's most potent lyrics are on this album, whether or not the music has aged to a considerable level of their other albums. The songwriting is top class. " I was that kid sittin' over in the corner, smiling with a shit-eating grin And I was that kid smilin' in the back of class 'cause I'm fryin' on mescaline I was that kid drinkin' 40's on the bleachers getting drunk after school Gettin' home too late, fallin' on my face, way too drunk to skate and actin' a fool Yeah, those sure are some amazing lyrics... -_-

Couple decent songs, most complete crap. At least this album seemed to get them out of a bit of a slump. Since then they've made 3 great albums.
