MGMT (antes conocidos como «The Management») es un grupo estadounidense formado en Brooklyn (Nueva York, Estados Unidos) por: Andrew VanWyngarden (guitarra y primera voz), Ben Goldwasser (teclado maestro y voz), James Richardson (guitarra), Matt Asti (bajo) y Will Berman (batería). La banda se formó en el año 2002 y debutaron profesionalmente en 2007 con el álbum Oracular Spectacular, editado por Columbia Records.
Goldwasser y VanWyngarden formaron MGMT en la Universidad de Wesleyan (un prestigioso e influyente centro de artes liberales de Middletown, en Connecticut), donde estudiaban música, en diciembre de 2002. Comenzaron a experimentar con noise rock y electrónica antes de que el crítico David Marchese, de Spin Magazine definiese su música como “pop psicodélico”. Tras escuchar un EP con la canción Time to Pretend, el entonces vicepresidente de A&R de Columbia Records y gurú de la música Steve Lillywhite (productor de U2, Peter Gabriel, Rolling Stones, Talking Heads o The Smiths) no tardó en poner encima de la mesa un contrato para grabar cuatro álbumes. El primero es Oracular Spectacular con la canción
Time to Pretend como primer single.
Producidos por Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Weezer, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah…), la música de Goldwasser y VanWyngarden va de la psicodelia californiana de los 60 al Nueva York de los 80, mezclando intrumentos, tendencias y estilos.

Their next album has already been said to be coming out in the next year so stop being so impatient. Plus, if you get so bored from MGMT as you all stated then why wait for the next album?
