cheesetrolley Ugh. You're all missing the point. Don't any of you understand irony? We're SUPPOSED to think she's ridiculous. Her spoken interlude in the middle is SUPPOSED to be melodramatic and vapid; it's about an adolescent goth kid who puts on an artificial facade in a desperate cry for attention, though she really dreams of bubble gum and Molly Ringwald. She's a naive, emotionally starved girl trying to find her way through the social cesspool of high school. The realization that she's hopelessly juvenile eludes her because she doesn't yet have that age-earned wisdom. If you think this is a celebratory love story, then you didn't really listen to the lyrics. It's supposed to be poignant and wistful.

maccrash Really, the little monologue thing during the bridge is the only part of this album I genuinely dislike. The rest of the song is great... that part kind of just pulls it down for me. I dunno.

MachineOfaDream The monologue is totally pretentious, but it's supposed to be. She's going to read poetry to the stones, as if that is going to have any meaning for the deceased.. I just don't think it's a problem with the song. Young people are often like that.

flecksofreason I'm sitting here laughing to myself, trying to figure out how pretension has anything to do with the song or the monologues. If anything, it is overly romanticized. Music is meant to be entirely subjective. Beautiful work.
