Sex On Fire es el primer single tomado del cuarto album de King of Leon, Only By The Night, la canción les dio a Kings Of Leon su primer numero 1 en Australia, Finlandia, Irlanda y Reino Unido donde fue la segunda canción mas descargada. Tambien gano bastante popularidad en los Estados Unidos alcanzando el # 1 en el Hot Modern Rock Tracks y en el Billboard Hot 100 en el # 56 conviertiendoce en su segunda posicion mas alta en el chart. En 2008, la canción le otorgó a la banda su primera postulación a los premios Grammy como Mejor Canción Rock, Mejor Album Rock y Mejor Album Vocal por un Grupo o duo, ganaron el Grammy por esta última postulación. En Septiembre de 2009, el single ha vendido 747,713 copias.

Digital Spy deu quatro estrelas ao single, descrevendo-o como "um forte single que devera ser o ponto alto de suas próximas turnês."[3] O jornal The Sun também elogiou a canção dizendo que "a música é linda e genial, um dos pontos altos do álbum."[4] Planet Sound deu ao álbum a nota 9 numa escala até 10.
