Yeah, I definitely thought this was a Talking Heads song when I first heard it.

holy "jerry was a racecar driver". the talking heads is not just in the guitars, it's definitely in the vocal style for me.

I remember when I first heard this song, I was like "Ohh, so THERE's where Primus got their whole career." [2]

"Umm.. and the Talking Heads comparisons? Perhaps because Belew sculpted the most distinctive parts of the TH guitar sounds? " I'll have to disagree with you on this being the main similarity between the two groups. I find Belew's voice, inflections, and lyrical style to be so similar to Byrne's that it's nearly impossible for my ears to tell the difference. "Absent Lovers" helped with this, however! Also, The Talking Heads' guitar sound was already distinct and well established on their debut album. Although Belew did play with them live and contribute some amazing stuff to "Remain in Light" (The 'heads album that Discipline most resembles), I find that his style perfectly complimented what was already there rather than defined it. Afterwards, of course, he brought this same style over to King Crimson. Not saying that one band is better than the other, just making an observation.

The elephantosity is indeed Belew. Fripp is always playing the crazy scales and arpeggios in the background.
