Wed 27 Jul – Cold Cave, Austra, Prurient
I'll just start by saying that I've been to shows at "cultural centers" before. Never a bad experience, just a little unorganized, crowded, what have you. I expected this show to be the same... much to my surprise, The ukranian cultural center
was fucking AWESOME. Organized line out front being filtered by (nice) security, will call table, then moving onto ID checking. Walking in, my mind was blown! I had no idea that this place was this massive or this ...pretty! Tons of people and tons of room to accommodate them.
THERE WAS BEER AND WINE AND NOBODY INFORMED ME. They were taking DONATIONS. You better believe that I scrambled as desperately as I could for $5 to throw in that jar. Your choice between Pabst, Tecate, red and white wine! The "bartenders" were rad dudes - super nice and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Another thing I want to touch on is the volunteers. EVERY SINGLE PERSON that I had interaction with from the security to the guys handing out drinks to the guy checking IDs - ALL of them were SO pleasant, fun, nice and enjoyable. I believe this show was put together by the same people who do fyf
, they're really improving compared to the last few events, huh? Good for them, I'm genuinely excited for them and impressed with the growth.
Unfortunately, I missed Prurient
, due to run ins with friends and things, but Austra
blew my mind. Katie Stelmanis
's vocals are just incredible and she performs flawlessly live. I was literally entranced with her. Cold Cave
of course KILLED IT. So much fun - everyone was dancing, smiling, happy as shit. I loved it and so glad to be a part of it.
Great job ukranian cultural center
, and hats off especially to Cold Cave
