    What are you all going mad for? I haven't seen anyone call John a racist. Anyway, Martin Luther King okayed the song, and John used to hang around with Bobby Seale, great man and leader of the Black Panthers at the time. All power to the people!

    It's totally not a fucking racist song! John Lennon used the word ''nigger'' just to proved that women's social status was as same as the black people's, discriminated and unrespected. Some foolish critics twist the truth just because of a word, that was absolutely foolish. And some people are fucking weird. They never try to find the truth by themselves, but jsut listen to the authority or the main stream of public opinions.

    Lennon was controversial, but he was a powerful artists, in the most successful band in music history,, and he had the balls to write a song like this, with the help of his feminist wife Yoko Ono. "Nigger" will always be a hurtful and controversial word, and it shouldn't be desensitized either. But in the context of this song- all of the hurt- all of the nastiness attached to that word, makes the statement John and Yoko is making about women inequality that much more powerful.

    John Lennon: your lyrics are just as accurate about the way women are regarded in 2010 as they were in 1972. Yoko Ono: it was YOUR original observation made out loud in 1969 that served as John's inspiration for this song. Everyone else here that wants to call this a racist song: SHUT IT. Your skin color doesn't enslave you anymore, but a having a vagina still does.

    What is it about the word "Nigger" that the African-Americans generally get mad or upset about? Well it's the painful reminder of 400 years of slavery. So, in that context, in this song that's exactly what the word "Nigger" represents.
