My Top 10 John Lennon Songs
7 Dic 2008, 16:56 de nowheregirl81
As it's almost the 28th anniversary of John Lennon's death and I've been listening to his music a lot this week (even more than usual, that is) I thought it would be a good time to post my top 10 favourite John Lennon solo songs. So here they are, counting down from #10 to #1.
10. (Just Like) Starting Over
This was the perfect song to open the Double Fantasy album and mark the beginning of his comeback in 1980. I love the vocals and the 50s feel, though it always make me feel sad to hear him sounding so positive about the future considering what would happen just a few months later.
9.
Oh Yoko!
Until a few months ago this song would never have made it into my top 10 but I recently 'rediscovered' it and now it's one of my favourites. A simple love song about John's feelings for Yoko, it has a very catchy and uplifting melody. The harmonica is great too.
8.
Instant Karma
Instant Karma was recorded the same day it was written, and then released as a single only 10 days later. … -
My top albums of the 60s and 70s.
2 Mar 2008, 18:36 de nowheregirl81
As you can probably tell from a quick glance at my charts, most of the music I listen to is from the 1960s and 1970s. Here are some of my favourite albums from those decades. I have tried not to choose more than two or three from the same artist. If you haven't heard any of them I recommend you check them out soon!
The Beatles - Revolver
I love all the Beatles albums, but this is one of my favourites. There's not a bad track on this album - it's just brilliant from start to finish.
Listen: Tomorrow Never Knows
The Kinks - The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society
The most striking thing about this album is the 'Englishness', with almost every track dealing with the subject of memories, nostalgia and aspects of English life. There are some very catchy melodies on this album that you won't be able to get out of your head!
Listen:
Village Green
The Rolling Stones - Between the Buttons
This may seem a surprising choice as it's certainly not the Stones' most popular album. … -
My Life Soundtrack
26 Nov 2007, 4:00 de rustystake
Such a cool idea. I've been wanting to do this for a while. I limited myself to only use one song from every artist which made it pretty tough. I will probably update this as I think of different songs!
If you have any comments, please post! I'd love to hear some feedback.
1. Opening song: Everything in Its Right Place
2. Waking up:
Teardrop
3. First date:
Could We
4. First kiss: Love
5. Falling in love:
You Look So Fine
6. Being in love: Kissing You
7. Breaking up:
Who Let in the Rain
8. Making up:
Try
9. Seeing an old love: Unsent
10. Heartbreak: Love Ridden
11. Revenge for the heartbreak:
Angry Johnny
12. Driving fast:
Do the Evolution
13. Fighting back:
Anything But Down
14. Getting ready to go out: Out Tonight
15. Dancing in the club:
I Don't Feel Like Dancin'

Any Time, Any Place

Greatest Songs of All Times IMO
19 Nov 2007, 13:48 de akamud
#1 In My Life by The Beatles
Just because it takes me to this special place in my mind where everything is fine.
#2 God by John Lennon
It took me some time to listen to John's work after the Beatles, and damn, I did not know what I was missing. I could put this whole album here, but this particular song gets the prize.
What he is trying (and succeeding) to say in this song is what takes it to this place. He manages to show what he was going through (or at least, what he said he was) with just his voice, his words, and a piano, and that's why he was what he was. It's like you can put yourself in his shoes and feel exactly what he meant.
Probably one of the most powerful messages sent in form of a music I've ever had the pleasure to hear.
#3
Turn by Travis
The reason why this song is in the second third place instead of the third fourth, (where I first put it) is that this song is really simple! I feel like anyone could've made this, it was Fran's task to turn this into a deep song, and his voice did the job. … -

有邻居了:)
1 Nov 2006, 10:45 de choilpin
Love
怀念慢慢远去的东西...
