3 Dic 2009, 15:34 de jcshepardSelected nominations by the Recording Academy. Awards show airs 31 Jan 2010, on CBS.
It's nice to see the Academy recognize Taylor Swift as a "POP" star--Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Good luck to her where she shines. Willie Nelson's American Classic in Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album? Brad Paisley in Best Rock Instrumental Performance? I don't know about that.
Nice to see George Strait with a nod for Twang. Dierks Bentley & Patty Griffin for Beautiful World too. T. Bone Burnett get's a nomination for Production on Elvis Costello's Secret, Profane & Sugargane. And Neko Case has a bid for Best Recording Package--a good reason if you did the download thing to go find the real live CD. Look for more specifics below.

9 Ago 2007, 0:35 de DeedlydeeWhen I got home today the new Kevin Gordon CD O Come Look at the Burning (new, heh, it's 2 years old now...) was in the mail. It's more of a rock thing than the other CD of his I have (Down to the Well), but I got it on the strength of the single (which is the best John Hiatt song Hiatt never wrote). I need to listen more, but I find it a nice swampy, bluesy but very serious party record so far. Reminiscent of John Hammond & CCR at times.
3 Ene 2007, 3:11 de jazzandcoWhat a combination!!!
Tom Waits material mixed with the musicality of John Hammond Jr!!!
Brillant interptations of classics such as "Shells fom an old 38", "clap Hands", "Get behind the Mule" etc
This is a dark album and some listeners may be a bit shocked by how dark John Hammond Jr can actually be.
All in all, one the best releases of 2006!!
