Fue lanzada como sencillo el 12 de febrero de 1982, como preludio del álbum. Este sería el primer single de la banda con su nuevo vocalista, Bruce Dickinson. El lado B del sencillo contiene una canción llamada «Total Eclipse» que no fue incluída en la edición original del álbum, pero si en la versión de 1998.
Run to the Hills fue incluída en el lugar número 27 del ranking «40 greatest metal songs» hecho por VH1.
