Stu Block's a great vocalist, but not even close to what Matt Barlow was

Just saw them in OKC tonight. What a fantastic show. Stu's vocal range is so amazing - especially live. Great concert.

I did like Dystopia more, but Plagues is great. It's more of a grower. It's just a bit slower and darker than the last one. but it is pretty great if you give it enough time.

I really liked Dystopia a lot. Plagues isn't really on the same level imo. Maybe I still need to give it a couple more listens.

Plagues is the album of the year so far...maybe a testament to how weak the years been , but it's also a great record

Is it just me, or the guy in the very beginning of Spirit Of The Times really sounds like Mort from Family Guy?

I'm not a big fan of the material they've put out after 2004, but every time I listen to the first three albums, I immediately remember why I love Iced Earth so fucking much.

Iced Earth is in general too cheesy IMO. Only the first two albums kick ass.

New album would be much better without the last two songs and the outro. They're just annoying.

So far not too impressed with the new album after one listen, hoping it will grown on me over time. Too many mid-tempo tracks, kind of blended together after awhile.

I'm loving the new album... never really got into Dystopia, it sounded a little monotonous and uninspired to me. Now I can finally say some of their old vibe's back!

I've noticed how more noticeable the drums are on PoB too. I think Stu Block sounds fantastic on this record, he's really come into his own style.

    Enero 2014
  • Altron2

the drums are a lot more apparent on POB but the rhythm sections not as awesome as it usually is. Vocals are good, but that's it.

New album is meh... Dystopia was a loooot better.

    Enero 2014
  • SaigonBlaze

Really let down by the new album, although it was kinda expected after Dystopia. Block's vocals are regretfully dull and extremely formulaic. Even Schaffer's once unique rhythm is sounding dull and uninspired, especially compared to the band that made some of the best power metal of all time - songs like the Funeral, Stormrider, Wolf and Slave to the Dark still sound fresh and inspired by comparison. Oh well....If Barlow won't come back I'd love to see Tim Owens with a follow up to the Glorious Burden.
