Hot Chip es un quinteto de electropop originado en Londres (Reino Unido). Han editado tres álbumes de estudio: Coming On Strong, The Warning y Made In The Dark.
Se formó en el año 2000 a raíz de varios trabajos realizados entre Alexis Taylor y Joe Goddard. Tras autoeditar varios álbumes durante años, firmaron en 2003 con la discográfica inglesa Moshi Moshi, con quien sacarían su primer álbum, titulado Coming On Strong en 2004. Mientras comenzaban su segundo trabajo, James Murphy, líder de LCD Soundsystem, se interesó en ellos y los contrató para Dfa Records en Estados Unidos relanzando su debut a finales de 2005.
Un año después firmaron con EMI para Reino Unido y su segundo álbum, The Warning, ganaría bastante más repercusión. El disco fue nominado para los premios Mercury y la revista Mixmag lo proclamó como «Álbum del Año». El sencillo
Over And Over fue considerado como «Mejor Canción del Año» por NME.
También son conocidos por sus actuaciones en directo al reinventar sus canciones, creando un sonido diferente al de sus producciones de estudio. Han participado recientemente en festivales como Dour Festival, Glastonbury, Roskilde Festival, Sónar, Festival Internacional de Benicàssim, Electric Picnic, Bestival, Lovebox, Bonnaroo, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Big Day Out, T in the Park, Summer Sundae, Splendour In The Grass, el Tim Festival de 2007, Oxegen en 2008 y Coachella en 2007 y 2008. En 2007 compilaron el disco Dj Kicks incluyendo un nuevo tema titulado My Piano, lanzado también en formato de doce pulgadas.
