Hatcham Social es un trío formado en New Cross, al Sureste de Londres. Este se compone de los hermanos Tobias, Finnigan y su amigo Dave.
La banda se formó en 2006 y tiene como influencias a las bandas de pop indie de los años 80 y 60, tales como The Pastels, Orange Juice, and Josef K, y bandas del post-punk y shoegaze tales como The Jesus & Mary Chain and The Fall.
El grupo ha recibido criticas excelentes, existe tambien un artículo en el periódico británico “The Guardian” el cuál los describe como «irresistible»
Apesar de ser una banda Indie estos chicos suenan muy diferente de otras bandas. Su música tiene un estilo “retro” similar a los años 60 pero destacan con un ambiente muy feliz .
El vocalista principal, el carismático “Toby” tiene un increíble tono melódico en su voz, lo que da un sonido suave a sus canciones.
Las letras tambien son muy distintas y pegadizas, tales como:
“til the dawn / moan like witches scream like cats / extend your claws and scratch scratch scratch right back count me in / don’t be shy don’t be bashful” - (extraidas de “til The Dawn”) y
“Every day he sees the same / Down the garden past the lane / He would like to see what’s there / He would like to see what’s there / How’s about it / He says” (extraidas de “How Soon Was Then”)

It feels pathetic to mention Echo & The Bunnymen because of the whole 'crocodile(s)' aspect but I can't help but be reminded of 'Crocodiles' and bits of Heaven Up Here in their repetoire.

I agree with swiftnote. "I Cannot Cure My Pure Evil" is 100% Echo and the Bunnymen. The rest of the album has many other influences though.
